Sustainability of bamboo as a future construction material

This presentation is about the topic of sustainability and the usability of bamboo in building construction. In course of my bachelor thesis, it was examined whether the use of bamboo can save resources of finite raw materials and the associated reduction in emissions. Furthermore, the CO2 storage, the space required during growth, and the cutting loss of bamboo during growth were established and then compared with two types of wood native to Europe. In addition, in the course of the work, the emission values of the production of a multi-layer board made of bamboo were compared with a multi-layer board made of another type of wood. The tool used for the review is the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). Finally, all the results were compiled and a summary was drawn as to whether the future use of bamboo materials in building construction makes sense.
