Bamboo Village is dedicated to nature-based carbon removal, harnessing bamboo’s remarkable carbon sequestration properties. Our first certified bamboo plantation is located in Uganda, about 150 kilometers northwest of the capital, Kampala. From land preparation to harvesting, the entire process is carried out by the local community, ensuring not only environmental benefits but also economic and social empowerment. We prioritize environmentally friendly practices, utilizing organic fertilizers and water from naturally occurring rivers. The harvested bamboo at Bamboo Village serves dual purposes; in addition to carbon compensation credits, we are soon opening our own factory to produce bamboo-based construction materials. Bamboo Village is ONCRA verified, ensuring a nature-based carbon removal project of high integrity and quality. We are actively seeking like-minded offsetting partners to amplify the positive impact of our initiative. Engaging in this initiative not only contributes to a greener planet but also empowers local people to participate in more economic activities. COP 28 highlighted the crucial role of carbon markets in limiting temperature rise, emphasizing the voluntary carbon market. We advocate for nature-based solutions, urging proactive decarbonization with co-benefits. Genuine, high-quality projects are crucial as the market matures. Let’s collaborate and lead the way to a sustainable future!
