Led by Natalia — a bamboo expert and passionate cook — this workshop will show you how to transform fresh bamboo shoots into delicious, easy-to-prepare dishes. Whether you join us in the bamboo groves, the kitchen, or both, you’ll leave with new skills, fresh inspiration, and tasty memories.
What to Expect
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Bamboo Harvest in Essen
Meet us at the entrance to the Botanical Garden in Essen, where Natalia will guide you through harvesting fresh bamboo shoots. She’ll explain the best harvest time, different bamboo varieties, and their uses in the kitchen.

Travel from Essen to Dortmund
After the harvest, you’ll have time to travel to Dortmund (approx. 40–50 minutes by car or train) to join the cooking session.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
4:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Cooking Workshop in Dortmund
Join us at the European Bamboo Expo venue in Dortmund, where Natalia will show you how to clean, peel, and prepare your harvested bamboo shoots. Together, we’ll cook a variety of simple, hearty, and nutritious bamboo dishes.
